The Concept
The Covergirl X Katy Perry Katy Kat Collection is a true collaboration as Katy was involved in absolutely every single step of the process. She wanted to step outside the typical celebrity endorsement and be more than just the face. Katy wanted to get her hands dirty and work along side the Covergirl team to create a truly unique line that she could say she believed in.
As someone who has never been afraid to step outside the box and experiment with beauty, she wanted to release products that you wouldn't usually come across, especially at such an affordable price.
The Katy Kat Collection is entirely Katy from the ideas to the shades and even the names. She had a hand in every aspect all the way down to the modern black and white packaging with cat ears on the bottom - a true Katy Perry signature.
The Products
The collection features 11 shades (13 in the US) of the Katy Kat Matte Lipstick (retails for $7.99 USD) and they might just be the best lipsticks Covergirl has ever released. They come in a vast array of classic and out of the box shades, from pinks and reds to a lavender and even a black. They even come complete with cat themed names like Cosmo Kitty & Sphynx.
The demi-matte (not a true matte) lipsticks have a velvety finish with a bit of sheen that adds dimension and stops the lips from looking dry or cracked. This more forgiving finish combined with the shea, aloe and avocado infused formula makes for an ultra creamy, soft and super smooth lipstick with a matte appearance.

The Katy Kat lipsticks are light, comfortable to wear and slightly hydrating. They glide like butter and don't drag or cling to any dry spots much like a traditional matte lipstick.
They offer a smooth, relatively even finish and awesome pigmentation that becomes opaque in 2 layers. The last for about 5-6 hours before fading and have a subtle vanilla scent that will make you want to eat a cupcake.
The Katy Kat Collection comes with more than just fun shades of lipstick. Katy's vibrant sense of style also translates to the Katy Kat Eye Mascara.
A volumizing mascara that comes in both black and a bright blue (Perry Blue) and that promises 10x the volume and flirty lashes that are swept up and out. It has a thick brush with swirled bristles and a tapered tip.
The Covergirl X Katy Perry Katy Kat Collection is one of the most exciting affordable releases in a long time. It is so rare to see anything so vibrant and out of the box come from mass market brands but I love that Covergirl & Katy took the chance with products that not everyone will understand but us makeup addicts will obsess over.
The lipsticks are fantastic and are my favourite Covergirl lip product by far, the formula is perfection and they are the ideal product for someone who wants a matte look without the dryness. The blue mascara is so fun and perfect for adding a pop of colour to your lower lashes for summer.
