I don't know about you but I personally think there is no better feeling than when you receive a makeup related compliment. "You're skin looks so clear", "I love your lipstick, what is it?", "You're glowing!" Whatever the compliment may be, they always make me feel so good about not only myself but my talents in applying makeup. They also give me a really good indication of which products truly do deliver.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been given so many wonderful compliments and it is all thanks to my new obsession - the Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation.
The Packaging
The new Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation retails for $59 CAD/ $45 USD (for 1oz) and is available in 10 expansive shades from very fair to very deep. It comes housed in a stunning gold bottle with a frosted ombre design and metallic accents.
The lid twists open to reveal a button that you push to suck the foundation up into the dropper which you then twist the rest of the way to remove. It is an incredibly chic bottle that just feels luxurious and looks amazing on a vanity.
The Science
The Aqua Glow Foundation is an ultra lightweight ionized, water based foundation that features an innovative Electrolyte Balance System comprised of ionized water, advanced hyaluronic acid and essential minerals.
- Ionized water is incredibly beneficial to the body, it is rich in alkaline which helps to restore the PH level of the body, it helps to cleanse and purify the body from toxins and pesticides, and it is full of antioxidants that help to neutralize pollutants.
- Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar in the body that has an amazing ability to retain moisture, in fact one gram of acid can hold up to 6 litres of water. Hyaluronic acid helps to attract water to the skin and hold it, improving your skins moisture content as well as strengthening the skins barrier for healthier, softer, smoother, more plump skin.
-Essential minerals are basically nutrients that your body needs to function and thrive. This includes calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and many more.
This trio of hydrating ingredients gives the foundation the benefits of an advanced skincare product and the ability to treat and nourish skin throughout wear. After 12 hours of continued wear, your skin should be more hydrated and supple.
The Formula
The Aqua Glow Foundation is an incredibly lightweight foundation that looks and feels like water, complete with a cooling sensation. It may be thin and feather light but its provides a buildable medium coverage that can be layered up or sheered out depending on what level of coverage you want. It layers seamlessly and blends beautifully, each layer simply melting into the skin for a flawless, natural skin finish.
The lightweight formula feels like nothing on the skin and never gets heavy or cakey no matter how much you apply.
Among the hydrating ingredients it also features multi-reflective pigments that play with the light to optically smooth skin and instantly reduce the appearance of imperfections, pores, fine lines and wrinkles.
These reflective pigments mean skin is left looking naturally radiant, not masked by heavy opaque coverage. Skin looks healthy and hydrated with a heavenly glow that out shines any other luminous foundation I have ever used.
The optical illusion created by the light reflecting pigments really works to cover and perfect any issues with tone, dark spots, redness, scars, dryness and even acne.
It contains glycerin to help it stick to the skin and it works best when paired with a lotion based primer or primer spray. I have found that silicone based primers cause the foundation to slip.
I have fallen head over heels for this foundation. It feels so soothing and comfortable on the skin and gives the most perfect, flawless finish. It far surpasses any other foundation I have tried it how it feels on and how it looks. The glow you get from this foundation is unlike any other, it is so incredibly luminous that you can see it from the heavens.
I have worn this foundation for 12 hours straight and it has looked almost perfect at the end of the day with only a minimal amount of fading around the nose.
I would recommend this foundation to anyone looking for a heaven-sent glow but I do think it is best for those with normal/combo/dry skin but not oily or overly dry. As a water based foundation it will do nothing but hydrate so it won't produce oil but it will enhance the look of oil due to its luminosity.
I can't see myself using a different foundation anytime soon and I have already purchased a backup because I am that obsessed. If you love a good glow in your foundation then you NEED this one.
