Embracing Lip Liner with Essence Cosmetics

Hey Beauties!

My taste in makeup has grown in a million different ways since I started to really explore my passion in high school. I have gone through various phases, as everyone does. I have learnt how to pick the right foundation, how to hoard nail polish and how to draw a cat wing. I have focused on different products and discovered what I do and do not really enjoy and my latest discovery is all about lip liner.

While I have always loved lipsticks I have always had a bit of apprehension surrounding the infamous lip liner. I grew up in the 90's when the obviously over outlined lips with a lighter colour in the centre was all the rage and it sort of traumatized me a little bit. It wasn't until this last year that I decided to dip my toes into the world of lip liners and I have to say, I am SO happy that I did.

In a short amount of time I have become absolutely obsessed with using lip liner alone and with other products. I have amassed quite the collection and have tried quite a few brands but by far my most used liners are from Essence Cosmetics

Essence is an ultra affordable brand that somehow seems to deliver pretty amazing products for such inexpensive prices. The lip liners retail for $1.29 CAD and you would never know it. They are on the same level if not better than some of their $20 competitors. Their simple style and fuss free packaging make room for Essence to focus on the product itself and it really shows.

The liners are incredibly pigmented and the product is ultra creamy and applies super smooth, even with dry lips underneath. There is no tugging or skipping, they literally glide across the lips giving you perfectly even coverage in seconds. They feel weightless and really comfortable on the lips, you will forget you are wearing anything. They set to a semi matte finish and once they are on they barely budge. A little bit of transfer is inevitable but they hold onto your lips and last a good 5 hours if worn alone. Underneath a lipstick, they last all day long.

{Wish Me A Rose 01}
{Soft Berry 05}

The three shades I have are all equally amazing, they all apply, wear and appear the same and I have fallen head over heels. All three are disappearing quickly and the nude one is just a stub. I need to run out and buy 2 or 3 more to have on hand because I have worn In The Nude almost every single day and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Essence is available exclusively at Shopper's Drug Mart and Ulta and the lip liners retail for $1.29 CAD

Have you jumped on the lip liner train? Have you tried anything from Essence Cosmetics? What is your favourite lip liner?
