Hello there and happy Wednesday! I've got a very exciting post for you today! On Sunday of last week I was blessed enough to receive an invitation to the #shiftashade event with Clairol hair dye! I cannot express to you how grateful I was to be invited to such an amazing event that is all about promoting self acceptance and natural beauty! The Shift a Shade event is based on the idea of using Clairol's famous Nice 'n Easy hair dye to subtly adjust your natural hair colour to help your natural beauty radiate from within! I am truly passionate about promoting positive thoughts for yourself and the people you encounter on an everyday basis. I am a firm believer that every person is beautiful no matter the size, shape, or colour and Clairol is helping to spread that message.
Well, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to bring you along and show you the ins and outs of my experience at the #shiftashade event! Clairol teamed up with the stunning Hair on the Avenue Salon in Toronto - the most beautiful salon I have ever stepped foot inside - to host this amazing event. Bloggers from all over Canada were brought together to have their hair colour "shifted" in a before and after style photo shoot. I had the chance to mix and mingle with so many inspirational women and it was so much fun to see the transformations take place!
Being a natural redhead, it was a tricky decision on whether to darken or lighten my hair. After much deliberation we decided to go a shade lighter to bring out the blonde and golden tones in my hair. The amazing colourist Luis Pacheco selected the shade 9G Natural Light Golden Blonde from the Nice 'n Easy collection and the effect was absolutely beautiful. The dye lightened my hair just a touch so it appears sunkissed and golden and the different tones in my hair shine right through! Nice 'n Easy is a permanent hair dye that last up to 8 weeks and features Colour Blend technology that gives you expert highlights and lowlights in one simple step! Each and every shade features at least 3 tones that mimic the tones in natural, untreated hair so you are left with the most seamless blend possible. I must also say that I was pleasantly surprised by how good the dye felt on the scalp and by the scent which was actually a bit fruity instead of the typical chemical smell.
After having my hair blown out and styled I then headed over to have my makeup done and I was in absolute heaven! The resident makeup artist for Hair On the Avenue, Robert Weir, created a beautiful burgundy smokey eye and a bright fuchsia lip, using Covergirl cosmetics, that perfectly captured the essence of my new hair! When my makeover was complete, I had my photo taken by the incredibly talented Peter Tamlin, who made me feel so confident in front of the camera when I was really quite nervous!
It was an absolutely amazing experience and I feel so grateful to have been invited and to have met so many beautiful bloggers! I am so proud to have been involved in such an inspiring campaign and to be able to test out Clairol's products. I truly think that if you are in the market for a new hair dye that Nice 'n Easy is the best option out there! Thank you so much to Clairol, P&G and MSL Group for having me!
